The number one environmental risk factor in textiles is water pollution. Did you know that the volume of water used in conventional dyeing and textile print processes could fill the Mediterranean Sea every two years! The amount of water currently used, wasted, and polluted is staggering. The industry shift towards digital printing goes a long way towards reducing its environmental impact, and our printers use a 100% waterless process. No pretreatments, steaming or washing required.

A common mistake and greenwashing technique is to sell the garment's sustainability without considering the decorating that goes into it. At SJ Clothing, we are on a mission to ensure every stage of the production is as kind to the environment and those living in it.

The most commonly used printing inks is plastisol which is a proven carcinogen. This is detrimental to the people and the planet! Our printers use water-based NeoPigment inks that are absolutely free of heavy metals, formaldehyde and Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APE), making them non-hazardous and non-toxic. Furthermore, our inks are biodegradable and follow the highest international sustainability standards including: OEK TEX 100, and on the positive GOTS list, among others. These combined factors ensure a safe work environment and result in products that are safe enough even for children.
